Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report 11/3/11

“Breezy conditions Here in Florida have made locating the fish a little more difficult during the past week. However, this has not prevented them from biting altogether. During low light conditions, speckled trout have not been able to resist live shrimp or scented jerk baits rigged under a Bass Assassin Kwik Cork. This is especially true along the western shoreline of the Indian River south of Titusville.Pat attention to the tides. When targeting these fish, anglers will have more success drifting in four feet of water or less. Suspending the bait, just above the grass, is the key to catching these fish,” reports Capt. Keith Mixon of Mixin’ Work With Play Fishing Charters. (321-212-8484). mixinworkwithplay.com
Redfish have also been willing to bite both artificial lures and fresh cut baits during the late evening hours. Many of these fish have been caught along the leeward side of spoil islands, channel drop offs, and old boat docks in both the Indian and Banana Rivers south of S.R. 520. When targeting these fish, anglers will want to use light tackle. Many of these fish have had an average length just at the lower slot of 27 inches,” Mixon said.
