Florida Kayak angler catches 40-pound wahoo

After not getting any bites while butterfly jigging from his 16-foot kayak in seas of 4-5 feet off Dania Beach, Rob Rodriguez was ready to paddle back to shore.
"I was just about to call it quits. The fishing was slow," Rodriguez said. "I figured let me give it one more drop, and it turned out to be excellent."
That last drop in 200 feet with a 5-ounce Williamson jig produced a 40-pound, 56-inch wahoo for Rodriguez, his first. He needed 20 minutes to land the fish using 40-pound line on a Penn Conquer spinning reel with a new Shimano Trevala jigging rod.
